Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem. We have a major milestone to share with every donor, supporter, and believer who has made du'a for this project: the land for the Mayagüez Masjid has been officially acquired.
This is not a small thing. For years, the Muslim community in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico - one of the island's largest cities - has had no permanent home to pray in. No masjid to call their own. No place where the adhan rings out over the neighborhood, where children learn Quran, where brothers and sisters can gather every Friday and every Eid.
That changes now. Alhamdulillah.
"Whoever builds a masjid for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ · Sahih Bukhari & MuslimHow We Got Here
The Mutah Beale Foundation was established with one mission: to build the first permanent mosque in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. What began as a vision - one that started in the heart of a man who once stood beside Tupac Shakur, and who found his way back to Allah - has now crossed its first major threshold.
Mutah Beale, formerly known as Napoleon of the Outlawz, has spent years since embracing Islam working to give back to the ummah. After years of planning and outreach to donors across the country, the foundation secured the funds needed to acquire land in Mayagüez. Every dollar that came in contributed to this moment.
The land site in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico - where the masjid will be built.
Looking out over the property - enough space for a full masjid complex.
What This Milestone Means
Acquiring the land is Step One - and it is the most important step. Without land, a masjid is only a dream. With it, the dream becomes a plan. Every subsequent phase - architectural design, permits, groundbreaking, construction - now has a physical address to build toward.
Why Mayagüez?
Mayagüez is Puerto Rico's third-largest city. It has a university, a port, a growing population - and a Muslim community that has prayed in borrowed spaces, rented halls, and makeshift rooms for years. There is no permanent masjid in western Puerto Rico. The nearest established mosque is hours away.
The Muslims of Mayagüez deserve better. They deserve a house of Allah that belongs to them - where the next generation of Puerto Rican Muslims will be raised, where new shahadas will be taken, and where the light of Islam will shine.
"The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills."
Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:261
What Comes Next
Securing the land is the beginning. Our total goal is $500,000 - enough to complete a full masjid with a prayer hall, wudu facilities, a Quran library, and classrooms for Islamic education.
We are currently raising toward the construction phase. Every dollar contributed now is a brick in that building. Every prayer offered in that masjid for the next 50 years will be traced back to the people who gave when it mattered.
Named Giving Opportunities
We offer several named giving tiers for donors who want to be permanently recognized in the masjid:
- Prayer Hall Sponsor - Name the main hall
- Mihrab Sponsor - Name the prayer niche
- Quran Library Sponsor - Name the library
- Classroom Sponsor - Name an education room
If you are able to give at any level - $10, $100, or $10,000 - your donation is accepted, your intention is recorded, and your reward is with Allah. No amount is too small for a deed this lasting.
Be Part of This Masjid
Your donation today is a sadaqah jariyah - an ongoing charity that earns you reward long after you leave this world. Every prayer prayed in this masjid returns to you.
